Two robbed in car at gunpoint
Two people were reportedly robbed at gunpoint Sunday night as they sat in a car at an apartment complex.A 28-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were sitting in a 1998 Pontiac in the parking lot of Stonelake Apartments at 1601 SW 27th Ave. Just after 10 p.m., a man walked up to the Pontiac, opened the driver’s side door, flashed a silver handgun and demanded “everything,” according to Ocala Police Department reports.The man turned over an iPhone 3G. The gunman then ordered the woman out of the car and had her turn her pockets inside out. Nothing was taken from the woman, reports state.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Ocala Police Department at 369-7000, Crime Line at 369-7001 or Crime Stoppers at 368-7867.Community
Rabies alert terminatedA rabies alert issued in late August for an area centered on County Road 42 and Southeast 115th Avenue has been terminated.The alert was issued when a cat tested positive for the disease. The Marion County Health Department has not had a confirmed case of rabies in more than 60 days in that area, so terminated the alert. Citizens are reminded to make sure domestic animals have a current rabies vaccination and also to keep lids on garbage cans and not leave out pet food that can attract wild animals.Fitch Credit gives ‘AA’ rating for cityFitch Credit Ratings on Monday announced that it has affirmed the ratings on about $42 million in outstanding capital improvement revenue certificates on the city of Ocala as “AA,” and that the rating outlook is stable.
